Should vaping be banned in the state of Maine? Since the start of the summer 37 people have died from vape-related products. Over 1888 people have been hospitalized for the same reason. Because of this rising issue, many states are deciding to ban vaping. Michigan was the first state to ban vaping, followed by New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Illinois, and a few more are considering this option. Vaping has become very popular among young people, which is partially due to teens mistaking Juuls as a safe alternative to cigarettes. The simplistic design of these smoking devices makes it easy for teens to secretly possess and use. An example of subtle design is the product "Juul", which almost looks like a USB drive. Juul is infamous for being used by teens in schools.
Although vapes have been banned from many states, many people believe products like Juul are not the issue. It is believed that black market copies of these devices is what is actually causing most hospitalizations around the country. Black market vape devices, vape juices, and even CBD products are easier for underage users to buy, causing a flood of counterfeit smoke products in America. These products use dangerous chemicals to make up for their cheap quality.
What do you think? Should vaping be banned in Maine? Or should it be banned in the whole country?
